DING BOB TRIKES AUSTRALIA

BIKE TRIKES.
Because we carry out Trike conversions on a range of Motor cycles it is hard for us to have one particular make on hand but we can put you on to owners - in different states - who use our Motorcycle engined Trikes.

Just a quick note here, and one that I hoped I would never have to bring up.

We are aware that copies of our Trike Kit Bits are being made and sold here in Western Australia. Body copies may not do you any physical harm. Copies of our front ends and frame parts can if they aren't assembled correctly or if the welding is not up to scratch. On top of that you may not be able to get the trike registered for road use.

So while imitation is the best form of flattery why not have the ORIGINAL.

VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) CONFUSION. When you order a frame only.

Because of the different licencing requirements in each state - when you order a Ding Bob frame we now give you a FRAME NUMBER which basically indicates that the frame is designed correctly with proper welding methods - material - stress analysis etc.  We will supply you with the relevant engineers reports to confirm this. The cost is included in the cost of the frame.

When you get to the licencing stage our FRAME NUMBER will indicate to the relevant authorities that it has been designed and built to guidelines which are recognised through-out Australia.

For any other licencing information please contact your nearest licencing centre in your state.

If you are having the Trike built by us then we arrange all that no matter what state you live in.

The same applies to our PROLINK leading link FRONT END and FUEL TANK'S.

*Note. If you are designing and building you own body to put on our frame then it is up to you to ensure that it is presentable for licencing but if you use your nut there shouldn't be a problem.

If you are not sure - about anything to do with Trikes just phone me obligation free on (08) 9410 2296 during normal business hours or email  Ding Bob  and I will do my best to help. Ding Bob

DING BOB TRIKES AUSTRALIA is a West Australian company concentrating on
THE DEVELOPMENT OF MOTOR TRIKES.

It all started when Robert Busellato wanted to diversify from his original experience of building custom bikes (choppers) for personal enjoyment into building trikes for himself  and the general public.

first chopper

OK the name (Ding Bob) is by today's standards not politically correct however in the Western Australian motorcycle fraternity that is what Robert Busellato is known as so it's staying like that.

He is a Ding and his name is Bob.

The first trike he built was a Moto Guzzi California with Subaru rear suspension and diff and handcrafted fibreglass body. It was licenced in 1983.

The trike was featured in the first Phillip Island Motorcycle Grand Prix programme.

The photo was snapped while riding from Perth to Victoria for the event. This trip gave Ding Bob an insight into changes and improvements that could be carried out in new models to come. A friend wanted one and here we are today full-on manufacturing.

Other bikes converted were Honda Goldwing 1000/1100/1500 six cylinder Virago 1000, Kawasaki VN800, BMW Boxer (pictured) and K1000 and of course the Harley Davidson's ranging from Heritage Fatboy and Sportster.

Harley Davidson motorcycle trike

For the tourist trade operators we developed a dual rear seater body for Harley Davidson motorcycle trike conversions.

DING BOB has designed the Trike section to bolt onto a motorcycle without any modification to the motorcycle. Originally a Harley Davidson Softail. Another new development has been the introduction of an electrically operated reverse gear.

You can have a trike in the morning

and turn it back into a bike in the afternoon.

In 1997 we finalized the development of a new trend in Australia. Car engines in trikes. Of course it had been done in other parts of the world but we  developed our first one and put it through its testing stages. The result was more than satisfactory. We adapted a complete VW Type 3 rear section to our own frame design.

In April 2002 we set out to design a frame that would take all the type 1 - 2 and 3 VW engine and gearbox combinations. We also wanted to it to take our own PROLINK leading link front end and give you the option of putting a Harley Davidson front end on - and we wanted to supply it with a FORD disc brake option.

Most importantly we wanted to keep the handling characteristics that made out Trikes stand out from the rest. In April 2003 we achieved what we set out to do and along the way added a Subaru motor option

Everything is made in jigs and we have the full approval of the local licensing department.

We are in production of units in  (A) Kit Form (B) Turnkey (C) Custom - with optional body styles for Motorcycle engined trikes and Automotive engined trikes.

And for something to keep us busy during our lunch break we have our Custom built project trikes. Otherwise life gets boring.
